More than any other facial feature, your eyes reveal the most about how you feel. When your eyes are bright and alert, you appear energized and well-rested. Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is a procedure that can correct and improve sagging upper eyelids and puffiness in the lower lids by removing excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids. However, it cannot correct crow's feet or other wrinkles, eliminate dark circles under your eyes, or lift sagging eyebrows.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR EYELID SURGERY
The best candidates for eyelid surgery are men and women who are physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic in their expectations. Most are 35 or older, but if droopy, baggy eyelids run in your family, you may decide to have eyelid surgery at a younger age.

Before After Before After

WHERE YOUR SURGERY WILL BE PERFORMED
Eyelid surgery may be performed in our office under a local sedation or in the outpatient surgery center under general anesthesia or iv sedation. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, which means you go home the same day.

HOW LONG DOES SURGERY TAKE AND HOW IS IT PERFORMED Blepharoplasty, usually takes 1 to 1 1/2 hours for the upper or lower eyelids and 2 1/2 to 3 hours for both the upper and lower together. For the upper eyelids, the surgeon makes the incision in the crease of the eyelid following the natural line. Working through these incisions, the surgeon separates the skin from underlying fatty tissue and muscle, removes excess fat, and often trims sagging skin. The incisions are then closed with very fine sutures. The sutures are removed within 3 to 5 days. For the lower eyelids, the surgeon makes the incision just below the lashes in the lower lids. There are times when the incision will extend into the crow's feet or laugh lines at the outer corners of the eyes. If you have a pocket of fat beneath your lower eyelids but don't need to have any skin removed, your surgeon may perform the surgery by making an incision inside your lower eyelid, leaving no visible scar.
