Everything old is new again. Today, many women will request information about permanent cosmetics. The application of permanent cosmetics is a tattooing procedure. If you have thin or absent eyelashes, very light colored eyebrows, or want to simplify your regular application of cosmetics, you are a good candidate for permanent cosmetics.

Is permanent permanent?

While the term permanent cosmetic is used, it is somewhat misleading. Over time, you may experience fading to some degree. It is important to understand that this procedure is a tattooing procedure. Your selection of area for the procedure, color used, and skin type will help determine how long the results of the permanent cosmetics procedure will last.

What should be expected?

Prior to the procedure, you should experiment with different colors and styles. Meeting with our Skin Care Specialist will help you in this process. Look at different colors and "try them out" on a short-term basis. While we caution you to use the term permanent loosely, you should also understand the once the procedure takes place you cannot just wash it off with soap and water. The procedure is done on an outpatient basis. Many patients will combine this procedure with another cosmetic procedure. A local anesthetic.  After the procedure, the treatment areas will be swollen and slightly bruised. Your skin will begin flaking after several days. A touch-up may be required after approximately three months. The applied pigmentation will appear very dark for the first few weeks. It will lighten to the final color about two to three months post procedure.

What should be expected following the procedure?

Following the permanent cosmetics procedure, there is a mild amount of discomfort for eyelid and eyebrow procedures for one to two days. More discomfort should be anticipated with lip procedures and the recovery time is longer. Antibiotic ointment to the treated area(s) is used for one to two weeks and cosmetics should not be applied to the treated areas for one week (eyebrows and eyelids) or two weeks (lips).

What should be expected following the procedure?

Permanent pigmentation of eyeliner or eyebrows and permanent pigmentation of lips to give the appearance of larger, darker lips. The estimated fee for permanent eyeliner or eyebrows are as follows.
